You'll frequently have a few questions after a storm, an accident, or when you see damage spots on your roof. If yours is not answered below, reach out and ask us directly.
How long have you been in business?
Kyle Davis has been serving homeowners and business owners across DFW since 2008, and we have more than 15 years of industry experience behind the crews.
Are you insured? Can I have a copy of your insurance certificate and call to verify that it is valid?
Yes, we are fully insured. Ask and we will send you the certificate, and you are welcome to call the carrier listed on it to confirm the policy is current. Any roofer who hesitates at that request is telling you something.
Can you repair all the damage to my property, or just the roof?
All of it. Hail rarely stops at the roof, and we can repair virtually any item on your insurance claim — gutters, fence, windows, garage door, skylights, siding, soffits, fascia and trim. We handle the permits and work with your municipality so the repairs meet or exceed code.
Is your company licensed by RCAT? Can I call to verify that your license is valid?
Yes. Texas does not require roofers to be licensed, and fewer than 10% of local roofers carry one — we are licensed by the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas because we care about higher standards. You can verify any contractor, including us, at rooftex.org.
What type of labor warranty do you provide?
A 5-year labor warranty as standard, with an optional 10-year extended warranty, both on top of the manufacturer's warranty on the materials. That exceeds most labor warranties available in this market.
How do I know if my insurance company has paid me fairly?
We cannot legally represent you or adjust your claim, and any contractor who says otherwise is out of bounds. What we can do is help you understand the claims process, check whether your insurance estimate is in line with Xactimate's fair market value, and make sure all of the damage was actually identified.
Do I have to pay my deductible?
Yes, and be careful with anyone who says otherwise. Most contractors will tell you they can waive your deductible — they have no idea what your deductible amount is, so how could they? Others will suggest leaving your gutters unrepaired to offset it. If they then invoice the insurance company saying that work was done, that is insurance fraud. In most cases there are plenty of funds available to have everything repaired properly.
Are you a member of the NTRCA (North Texas Roofing Contractors Association)?
Yes, we are an accredited member. Most of the legitimate roofing companies in DFW are, and you can check any contractor's status on the NTRCA's own site before you sign anything.
Are you headquartered in Dallas/Fort Worth or in some other area?
Here. Our office is at 108 Schoolhouse Rd in Haslet, on the north side of Fort Worth, and it has been a family-owned DFW business since 2008. We are not a storm-chasing outfit that arrives after the hail and leaves before the warranty matters.
Do you use certified installers or day laborers?
Our crews are experienced, trained and reliable, and we are certified ShingleMaster applicators with CertainTeed — only a small percentage of DFW roofing companies meet their certification standards. The difference shows up in the details nobody photographs: nailing pattern, flashing, ventilation, and the cleanup.
Will I have to sign a contingency agreement?
No. We do not ask clients to sign a contingency agreement and we do not use high-pressure sales tactics. Free estimates and free roof inspections, with no commitment attached to either.
Do you offer any discounts?
We love heroes. Ask about our discounts for military, first responders, teachers and seniors.
What to listen for at the appointment
These are not questions we answer for you. They are the ones worth asking whoever is standing in your driveway, including us.
- Did they mention how many nails will be installed in each shingle?
- Will they have a supervisor on-site?
- Will they inspect the attic prior to job start and again upon completion?
- What is their process for protecting the grounds and cleaning up?
- Did they mention reliable brands such as CertainTeed or GAF?
- Did they mention whether your ventilation is adequate, or suggest any improvements?
- Did they discuss any shingle options that can save you money on your insurance premium?
One final consideration
Do you feel comfortable with the salesperson, and do you feel comfortable with the company they represent? People in sales are trained to be likeable, so research the company behind them. Look up their Google reviews and check whether they read like actual clients. Verify NTRCA accreditation at NTRCA.com, check their rating with the Better Business Bureau, and search rooftex.org to confirm they are licensed by RCAT.
